Major Gifts Officer UMass Boston
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Principal & Leadership Gifts and Director of Comprehensive Campaign, the Major Gifts Officer is primarily responsible for developing managing, implementing, and overseeing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of approximately 100-125 prospective leadership gift donors. The Major Gifts Officer will create individualized solicitation plans leading to major outright and deferred gifts of $25,000+, integrating unrestricted and restricted gifts, endowment, annual and capital gifts in support of University fund raising priorities. Responsibilities will most significantly include the identification, cultivation and solicitation of new prospects for the University. The Major Gifts Officer will serve as a fundraiser for University-wide targeted initiatives and will work closely with colleagues in University Advancement, Dean’s, faculty and senior administrators in developing and implementing key fund-raising strategies and activities.

We will prioritize candidates whose research complements existing strengths in theoretical Quantum Science and Technology research within the department. Candidates whose research also has potential overlap with experimental research in the department (as an example: applications of quantum sensing to biophysics) are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant is expected to establish an externally funded research program, direct the research of students at the doctoral, masters, and undergraduate levels, and interact effectively with colleagues within the Physics Department and across the College of Science and Mathematics. The successful applicant will also be expected to teach and further develop the Quantum Information Certificate program we have established at UMass Boston.
